Introduce yourself

Hello there, and welcome to the Open VoIP Alliance discourse forum. If you’re new here this is the place to introduce yourself. Make it as long or short if you like. Some ideas for things to mention would be:

  • Where are you from?
  • How did you get into VoIP development?
  • What is your favorite piece of open source software?

I’ll kick this topic off with an introduction of myself. My name is Ruben, I’m currently 26 years old and I’m from The Netherlands. I work for Spindle as an infrastructure engineer and run the daily operations for the Open VoIP Alliance together with some of my colleagues. At Spindle we’ve been using open source software since we started building our VoIP platform, building on top of Asterisk and OpenSIPS mostly.

I’ve been a ‘follower’ of the open source philosophy for a long time and prefer to develop software in the open, or to use existing open source software and improve on it where I can. Lately I’ve been a big fan of Prometheus for gathering metrics. I’ve even open sourced two exporters to gather metrics, one for OpenSIPS and one for MaxScale.
