Develop VoIP software for the browser using WebphoneLib

We are very proud to be releasing our first library published under the Open VoIP Alliance, the WebphoneLib.

What does it do?

The WebphoneLib is a JavaScript library that was developed to make developing applications for calling in the browser easier. It is built upon the popular SIP.js library that allows working with the SIP protocol in the browser. However the WebphoneLib adds a layer of abstraction that allows developers to not worry about SIP events, REGISTER’s, INVITE’s and the like.

Why did we create this?

We found that working with SIP.js can be difficult as it relies on the developer understanding the SIP protocol. While for many seasoned VoIP developers this might be a piece of cake, this library helps by abstracting away the SIP stuff so you can focus on what’s most important to you, developing good applications for your users.

What’s next?

We’ll keep developing and maintaining the library, fixing issues or adding features as they come along. We would love to have your help to make this library better so if you have any feedback, issues or other improvements you can add please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can reply to this topic or open an issue on GitHub.
